Futures Lab

Futures Lab is where I explore questions about how technology is changing the way we create and make decisions.

The Lab grew out of my work in the Institute for the Future’s Futures Thinking specialization ↗, which I completed in 2026. It’s where I put those methods into practice, moving beyond writing about possible futures to build things from them, like a record or an interface. I’m interested in what an idea reveals when you can actually interact with it. I’m also a member of the Association of Professional Futurists ↗.

These are independent projects, developed alongside my work in branding and creative direction.

01 — Intent Origin

A provenance record for creative work.

What if creative work came with a record of how it came to exist?

Intent Origin is a speculative prototype that documents the sources, tools, collaborators, and versions that shaped a finished piece, while distinguishing between what can be established and what a creator declares.

I tested it on a song I made this year. The experiment became a way of asking what a file can actually remember about the creative process behind it, and what gets lost.

02 — In Case of Voice

An experiment in what happens when a decision about your voice has to outlive you.

What should you be able to decide about your voice after you’re gone?

Two years ago, a friend asked me to help recreate the voice of her cousin, who had died, so his voice could be heard at his sister’s wedding. She wrote the message herself; AI supplied her cousin’s voice.

That experience stayed with me. For my second Futures Lab experiment, I used it to explore what happens when a decision about your voice has to be interpreted by people living in futures you could never have anticipated.

In Case of Voice is a speculative prototype built around a single voice clause: one document, four future requests, and a series of increasingly difficult questions about memory, inference, ownership, and who gets to decide what you meant.

03 — On My Behalf

An experiment in delegated judgment.

What happens when you give an AI agent your values and let it make decisions for you?

On My Behalf imagines a system that takes one instruction from you and applies it to your life for ten years. The experiment explores what happens when a value that feels simple in the abstract has to become a rule that a machine can actually follow.
